Product Review: Shake It Up With früsh

I was contacted by the Origin Food Group asking if I was interested in hosting a tasting party for früsh, their new line of yogurt and fruit shakes.  Before saying yes, I did some homework and found their website where I read:

“It’s a super busy lifestyle filled with work, kids, appointments, drop-offs, pick-ups, meals, and probably hundreds of other things. Sound familiar?” Gee, I wonder why they contacted me as this does not sound like me at all!

“Unfortunately,” the website continues “there’s not a whole lot of time for ?healthy eating in there. And that’s the point of ?früsh: real fruit and yogurt blended together with healthy extras like probiotics, calcium, and fiber to create one delicious, grab-n-go super-drink.”SOLD. I obviously said yes.  It’s hard for me to find a quick, easy and healthy snack.  I overdo it on nuts and I eat more bananas than a monkey so finding something different sounded appealing.

I have the perfect set-up for a tasting party.  I am a preschool teacher and our school is very health conscious.  To give you an idea, one meal on our school menu is tilapia with edamame and whole wheat cous cous.  So I had the box of früsh delivered there and had the teachers and staff sample the yogurt.

There are four flavors: strawberry, strawberry banana, blueberry and peach.  Most people enjoyed the yogurt where the strawberry flavor was by far the most popular.  Many teachers commented they could drink it as a breakfast substitute as that seems to be the hardest meal to get “in”.  We also had some kids stop by our kitchen and one little guy devoured his Strawberry Banana früsh in minutes.

My opinion?  I love yogurt so I am not a hard sell.  I like liquid yogurt and früsh had a very creamy (read yummy) consistency.  If it is not fresh fruit, I would rather have it blended with no pieces, so früsh fit the bill there.  However, I did grow up overseas where the yogurt is not so sweet and that is why I tend to buy greek yogurt more often.  My first früsh sample was Peach, one of my favorite fruits, and the yogurt tasted delicious but very sweet.  The strawberry was not as sweet and ended up being my favorite flavor followed by blueberry. I love that companies are trying to make “healthy choices” more convenient so when früsh actually makes it to my local grocery store, it will probably find its way into my shopping cart as well.  I would use it for those mornings when I train hard but there just isn’t enough time for breakfast much less to remember a spoon.  If you would like to try it, here is a couponto help out.  Thank you Origin Food Group for sending us the früsh samples, as you can see from the pictures they were enjoyed!
